Variegated Kumquat
The variegated kumquat is as much an ornamental as a fruit tree. Its leaves are marbled green and cream, and the young fruit is striped green and yellow before ripening to orange. It is a real feature in a pot or a courtyard.
The fruit can be eaten whole, skin and all, or made into marmalade and preserves. Like other kumquats, it is compact and cold hardy, and it fruits through winter and spring. Plant in full sun with soil that drains well, water regularly and feed with a citrus fertiliser in spring and late summer.
