Emperor Mandarin
Emperor is one of the mandarins Australians grew up with. The skin is loose and easy to peel, and the flesh is sweet and juicy, with a few seeds. It is a dependable backyard tree and a favourite with kids.
Fruit ripens from late autumn into winter. Plant it in full sun with soil that drains well, keep it watered through dry spells and feed with a citrus fertiliser in spring and late summer. The tree grows to around three to four metres and handles light frosts once established.
