Nam Roi Pummelo

Nam Roi is a well known pummelo from Thailand, with large, pear shaped fruit and sweet, juicy flesh with few seeds. Pummelos are the biggest citrus and one of the parents of the grapefruit, but they are sweeter and milder, without the bitterness.

Peel the thick rind and the segments come away whole, ready to eat fresh or use in Thai salads. Pummelos love warmth and suit coastal northern NSW. Plant in full sun in a sheltered spot with soil that drains well, water deeply and feed with a citrus fertiliser. Allow room, as the trees grow larger than most citrus.
