West Indian Lime

The West Indian lime, also known as the Key lime or Mexican lime, has small fruit with a stronger, more aromatic flavour than the Tahitian lime. It is the lime behind Key lime pie and a favourite for cocktails and Asian and Mexican cooking.

The tree is bushy and thorny, and it loves warmth. In a warm, sheltered spot it can fruit for much of the year. Plant in full sun with soil that drains well, protect it from frost and cold wind, water regularly and feed with a citrus fertiliser in spring and late summer.
