Washington Navel Orange

Washington Navel is the classic Australian eating orange. The fruit is large, sweet and seedless, with the tell tale navel at the end, and it peels and segments easily. It is the orange most of us grew up with in winter.

Fruit ripens through winter. Plant the tree in full sun with soil that drains well, water deeply through dry spells, especially while fruit is forming, and feed with a citrus fertiliser in spring and late summer. It grows to around three to four metres and handles light frosts once established.
