Cara Cara Blood Orange
Cara Cara is a navel orange with pink to red flesh, often sold alongside the blood oranges because of its colour. The flesh is sweet and low in acid, with a hint of berry, and the fruit is usually seedless. It is a lovely eating orange and makes a striking juice.
Like other navels, it fruits through winter. Plant it in full sun with soil that drains well, water deeply through dry spells and feed with a citrus fertiliser in spring and late summer. It grows into a rounded tree of three to four metres and can be kept smaller with light pruning after harvest.
